Springfield, get ready for a circus like no other. Cirque Italia’s “Water Circus” is in town, featuring an international cast and crew of aerialists, jugglers, clowns, acrobats, contortionists and others performing a high-energy show with a custom-designed, traveling stage holding 35,000 gallons of water. The first show is 7:30 p.m. Friday. “We are not like the traditional circus,” said performer and media manager Erick Razzore. “It’s a show completely different. You’ve never seen anything like this before.” Cirque Italia, which started in 2012, is the only traveling water circus in America, Razzore said. The show combines high-tech visuals with dazzling human talent from around the world. The acts express versatility and fluidity through human movement – inspired by the element of water. Unlike a regular circus, there are no animals, Razzore said. The show tells the story of Rafael, a farm boy swept into the city by a tornado. There, Rafael meets many people with amazing skills. Interestingly, Cirque uses the same water for each show. The water is transported in two trucks from venue to venue. Tickets range from $15 to $65. See cirqueitalia.com and the show’s Facebook page for more info and a free ticket offer for children ages 2-12.
